As an American, I’m growing more and more scared of my country, so from that perspective I’m all for a more militarized Europe to keep the US in check if only for the next decade or two.

This is why I don’t agree with the “lemmy is cozy, it doesn’t need to grow” point of view. There’s always specific, largely defederated instances that provide that cozy feeling, but I really want decentralized platforms to replace the corporate ones. If that’s ever going to happen, the fediverse needs to grow.

This is the first I’ve heard of it and I’ve been here since the Reddit exodus

This seems like a large surface for potential conflicts of interest (which was the idea, I’m sure). But also very cringe.

Not to mention, really hard tires would have very poor grip. The rubber needs to be a bit softer to squish around all of the little imperfections in the road, technically increasing the contact area and providing a little lateral bracing (probably not the right term so I hope I’m making sense). This is why a lot of performance tires have shorter lifespans then other tire types, because in addition to a different tread pattern, they also often use a softer, “stickier” rubber, which wears out faster.

You’d probably be better off using your phone for taking photos of papers. Better camera, better angle/lighting, generally better editing options (with default photo apps, imo Photoshop is overkill for taking a picture of a document, generally I only adjust brightness and contrast). The only downside is needing to get the photo to the laptop, but there’s about a million ways to do that depending on your setup.

Growing up this bad boy was my family’s only gaming console: It had Ms Pacman, Galaga, Mappy, Pole Position, Xevious… that might have been it? It was like you said, you just plug it into the video and audio jacks, it was all one thing.

This is timely as I’m actually new to drumming and teaching myself some basic polyrhythms right now. I’m definitely not capable of actively counting both rhythms at the same time. I’ll count one, play it until I’m not really thinking about it anymore, then play the other one on top of it. After awhile, my arms and legs will just go, my brain isn’t actually counting the rhythms individually but it hears the combined rhythm, basically I just memorize until the point that the polyrhythm syncs up and repeats. I didn’t use them, but there’s also a lot of common “phases” for learning these basic polyrhythms, like “pass the bread and butter” for 3 and 4, again just a tool to let the mind think of one funky rhythm rather than two basic rhythms played at once. Technically, they’re the same rhythm, but the first is easier to conceptualize
